I Need A Vacation....

I'm kind of sad today.

Usually when I'm sad I try to think of all the good things in my life and that'll get me out of my funk. I mean, I'm thisclose to graduating from college, I have a beautiful, beautiful daughter, I've got a man who really loves me, great family and friends, etc. So why should I be sad?

I just...can't put my finger on it. I feel restless, like I'm chained to something I don't want to be chained to. I want to DO something, I want to GO somewhere. With our financial situation, we can't really afford childcare and I'm not really too thrilled about someone else watching her while she's this young, so I watch my daughter while my husband is at work, and he watches her while I'm in class.

It's been working out so far, but I just feel like I'm in a rut. I do the same thing every day. I wake up, feed the baby, go to class, come home, eat lunch, feed the baby, do some homework, feed the baby, make dinner, eat dinner, feed the baby, bedtime. My mom takes her every few weekends, which gives me a little free time, but I just feel stuck.

I need a vacation, I think. A nice trip somewhere will do me good. I need a Bahamavention...has anyone seen those ads? That's where I need to go.

It's easy to get in a rut when you are a stay at home mom. I felt the same way. I just recently started working PT again for my old employer which has given me a little escape, but it was only a temporary gig. With winter now, it gets even harder because we dont go out as much. You just have to be creative. Dont worry, the older she gets, the more fun you will be able to have with her.

Thanks! I needed some encouragement from other moms, which is exactly what you gave me. I was thinking that because it's winter and the weather is so blah (I live near Cleveland) I was just getting a case of the winter blues.

The winter blues are definitely hard to get through with a little one. My cure has always been to try to get out of the house at least once a day- and find yourself a support group. I'm sure school keeps you very occupied as it is though. Don't underestimate what you are doing now an infant and school are definitely 2 full time jobs(add wife on top of that and you are a full time working machine).

Finishing up college is a major accomplishment that will make this blah season all worth it- just keep on keeping on! Your Bahamavention will be here before you know it.

Thank you Yolanda and LuckySnap! I needed to hear that I'm not alone. I would like to bundle the little one up and go somewhere, but the weather is just too bad. I tell ya, the first semi-decent day we have here, I'm going somewhere!

I live outside of Minneapolis, so I know what you are going through. Yesterday was cold, but really nice and sunny, so I bundled Ella up in her snow suit and we played outside for a bit. Even a small amount of time helps!

Like Yolanda said, keep on keepin'on!

journalist, i understand how you feel. i'm not sure where you live or if you have a car, but joining mommy groups, meetups and scoping out the free activities for you and baby def helps, that's what i did until i got a job full time. good luck and stay up. we all go through that some time.
