It's time for an update...

I really like my job.

And that's a relief.

When I discovered I would be working for a non-profit company in its public relations department, I was a little nervous. I don't know much about PR, except for that week in Media Writing when they taught us the basics of a press release. I don't know much about the non-profit world, although I've always been interested in learning more.

Turns out, I shouldn't have worried. My main job this summer is to assist with the redesign of the website. Once it's up and running, I'll link the URL.

So I've been meeting with department heads, trying to determine exactly what they want their sections to say. It's been interesting. I'm learning a lot, trying to absorb as much as I can.

This definitely wouldn't have been my first choice if you asked me where I was going to be working after graduation. I wanted a magazine job - period. No ifs, ands or butts. Magazine or unemployment. I wasn't trying to consider other options.

But this job is making it hard for me to miss magazines that much. I know this job is only temporary (through September), and I'm confident I'll land at a magazine then, but for now, my job is heaven. My supervisors all have children and the company is so family friendly it's ridiculous. They're letting me work from home some of the time, since they know I have a young daughter and a crazy hour and a half commute to and from work every day.

All in all, it's looking like a great summer. Graduation, wedding, honeymoon (VEGAS, BABY!). I couldn't ask for more.
